Presented a few weeks ago during the 2003 edition of the Milan trade fair SMAU, the new LG Electronics Mobile Phone represents the evolution of the bar type cellular phone, thanks to the innovative "Slide" design. In distribution for Christmas 2003, the new LG G5500 is a Dual Band 900/1800 GSM, with WAP 2.0 browser. It is rich in functions and has an innovative design. In fact, the back panel slides to show off the wide colour display in all of its beauty.
But let’s take things in order. Aside from the unusual design, the G5500 boasts multimedia functions such as support for MMS messages, for sending and receiving images and sounds, and thanks to the presence of Java, you can download new games and applications. Keeping with the theme of personalisation and content, there is also the possibility to download new ring tones and backgrounds, through M-Service or by installing the very useful Content Bank program included in the sales package. However, it lacks the digital camera, which has become almost obligatory also on middle range cellular phones. This fact limits its possibilities in terms of multimedia messaging.
On the other hand, the G5500, like an actual Hi-Fi system, is equipped with 30 integrated ring tones with 40-tone polyphonic ring tones. New ring tones can be downloaded in MMF format. Instead, the large STN graphic display (128 x 160 pixels) shows a good 65,536 colours, allowing you to appreciate images in their particular details. Obviously, there are also games to give even the busiest professionals a few moments of relaxation. As we have already mentioned, the telephone supports Java, thanks to which it is possible to personalise the G5500 depending on your needs.
The G5500 takes advantage of GPRS class 10 (4+2) technology, responding to rapid data transmission needs. The telephone is also able to interface with a PC to transfer and synchronise data using the IrDA port or serial cable RS232. Concentrated technology and innovative design in only 86 grams make this product the best in its range because of its design and professional performance. Its dimensions are contained, equal to 94 x 44 x 21.5 mm. Using the standard battery included in the sales package, the autonomy comes to about 100 hours of standby and more than 4 hours in continuous conversation.
The characteristics that complete this model are: rapid insertion of text with the T9, vibration, agenda, phone book with 255 contact (with 5 fields for each contact), alarm, voice memo with 3 memos (max 30x each) and voice dial for 10 numbers. The price of this new cellular phone has not yet been revealed. It will be on the market in the colour Silver by the end of the year.
